Inspired by many others I created a list on hardware, software and equipment I use daily to make my life easier.

13" Macbook Pro (Late 2016)
Although this Macbook Pro is already a few years old, it still gets the job done! I got the base model and upgraded the SSD to 512 GB and the RAM to 16GB. The only problem I have is the keyboard. But this is a known issue and only from time to time one of the keys gets stuck. Annoying, if you keep in mind that this laptop was more than 2000€

Apple AirPods Pro
In 2020 there was this shift in my work-life where I had to start working from home and this was the time I was doing A LOT of meetings over video conference software. This was the reason I decided to buy some AirPods Pro and I never want to miss them again, if I have to do online meetings. My voice was crisp and clean over the wire and no one was complaining about me that they would not understand me. If you are looking for really nice portable headphones, which you can also use as a headset than the AirPods Pro are a really good fit. I know they are a bit pricy, but imho they make my daily life a lot easier.

Apple Watch Series 6
I wanted to have an Apple Watch since it came out, but it was way too expensive for me back then. The Apple Watch is just the best fitness device I ever owned and the integration with the Apple ecosystem is just fantastic. I won’t want to miss this device in my life again.

Dell P2720DC Monitor
Dell makes one of the best monitors for office related work. As a developer I am working with a lot of text editors, thus text needs to be crisp and sharp. This monitor has an IPS panel which has great viewing angles and for sharp text. I sometimes play casual games on it too. It’s not designed for gaming, so don’t expect too much. For my needs, the display is more than enough.
A great feature of this display is that it has an integrated USB-C port with a power delivery of up to 65W. You just need one cable to connect your MacBook to your monitor and charge it. Pretty awesome.
This monitor has 27” with a resolution of 2560 × 1440. I did not buy a 4K display on purpose. The reason for this is, that the Dell monitor with 4K costs twice as much as this one. I think that 2K is the sweet spot when it comes to price–performance.

iPhone 12
After 3 years I finally upgraded to the iPhone 12 and I love it. It is so fast and the battery lasts twice as long as the one from my old iPhone 8 Plus. Only wished it had Touch ID in addition to Face ID like the new iPads. Face ID is not so great in an era where everyone is wearing masks.

Keychron K2 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard
You probably know this one from MKBHD, but I gotta say it is a very impressive wireless keyboard. I love the color scheme and the RGB backlighting. I use this keyboard for programming on my Mac. It was the reason I learned the english keyboard layout. The english keyboard layout as way superior to the german one and I am glad I learned it. If you are interested in buying one I can offer you 10% off with a coupon I got when I bought it.

Logitech MX Master 3
A really good mouse. I use it daily and it is probably the best mouse I ever had. I like the integration with macOS. I can use mission control and switch spaces very easily with gestures with that mouse. The different Bluetooth profiles are great too. I can switch between my Mac and Windows PC by just changing the profile on the bottom of the mouse. The battery lasts long too and can be recharged very fast with USB-C. All in all a very good mouse and I am very happy with it. In the future, I might buy the Logitech MX Vertical to have a more ergonomic mouse.

Sony WH-1000XM3
The Sony WH-1000XM3 are the best NC (Noise Cancelling) headphones I ever owned. The sound is really good and the NC is even better. I never want to go to the office again without my Sony headphones. They block every outside noise and I can focus on my work. They are that good that I don’t even hear the doorbell and friends need to call me on my phone and ask if I am at home The biggest limitation is that you can only connect one device at a time. This is annoying when I want to switch between my Mac and my iPhone.

iTerm
iTerm is just the best macOS terminal application that exists and best of all it is free of charge! Really love the window splitting feature, without having to install and configure tmux.

Insomnia
Insomnia is my go-to GUI for making HTTP Requests and documenting my APIs. It’s great and is Open Source.

Setapp
I started using Setapp and I really like it. I think it brings a lot of value for a low price. Lots of app included in Setapp are very usefull and you could buy them all seperatly, but would also have to upgrade the license yearly (eq Tableplus).
Here are a list of apps I use that are included with Setapp:
- Bartender - to have a clean menubar
- Forecast Bar - to see the current weather right in my menubar
- Lungo - if I don’t want my Mac to go to power saving mode
- Ulysses - a great app for writing
- Receipts - organizing my receipts and see what I spent
- CleanShot X - the best screenshoting app on macOS
- Sizzy - a great tool to help you with developing responsive websites
- TablePlus - the best database tool on macOS
- Renamer - for renaming lots of files quickly

TablePlus
I am using the free version of TablePlus to check my databases from time to time. Before TablePlus I was using SequelPro, but I had lots of problems with it in the newer macOS and MySQL versions.

Visual Studio Code
My preferred code editor of choice. The amount of extensions and customizability is just phenomenal.

ErgoChair 2
I love my Secretlab Omega chair, but I was looking for something more ergonomic. After my research, I found a few chairs that I thought would be great. Unfortunately we are in a pandemic and most stores are closed, so I had to rely on reviews on the internet and YouTube videos.
A lot of people had recommended the Herman Miller Aeron and I believe them that this is the best office chair money can buy. The problem with this chair is that it costs a lot of money (up to 2000$ 🤯) and there is only one store in Austria that sells it.
The second most recommended chair was the ErgoChair 2 from Autonomous. I liked the look of the chair and the features it had. Many people liked it and so I ordered it. After sitting on it for a few weeks now, I can say that it is a comfy chair. My back pain has definitely reduced and I really like the headrest. For 369$ this is a great high/mid-range chair, which has a lot of features that high-end chairs have.
If you want to buy it too, you can click the Buy button or use the Coupon code R-88d33c during Checkout.

Secretlab OMEGA (Cookies & Cream)
If you just sit in front of a computer for 2-3 hours a day then this chair is great and comfy. I found this company in a Twitch stream and I really love how the chair looked, so I ordered one and I like it. One of the best looking chairs I have ever owned.
For longer sessions, I would suggest checking out an ergonomic chair. These racing styled chairs are not very ergonomic and don’t have features to support your posture. Still a good chair though.

SmartDesk DIY Kit
I wanted a standing desk for a long time but did not find any desks that fit all the criteria that I wanted.
- at least 3 saved configurations
- real wood desk
- 180cm length
- should not cost more than 500€
After looking at a ton of standing desks I was disappointed that I could not find one that would be a great fit for me. After a few YouTube videos, I found out that Autonomous is offering a DIY standing desk kit. I looked at it and I was so happy 😄
The reason for this was, I already knew which tabletop I wanted. The KARLBY butcher block. It looks so good and has the perfect length of 180cm. And the best part is that it is real wood.
So it was decided. I ordered the DIY Kit and the IKEA KARLBY butcher block. Assembly was really easy.
My dream desk!

Secrid Slimwallet
In 2019 I changed my normal wallet to a slimwallet from Secrid and it was a really good decision. I hated putting my normal wallet into my pocket because it was so thick. Having a slimwallet means getting rid of coins, but that was quite easy for me to do. Paying with card is much faster, keeps my wallet slim and I get nice statistics in my banking app.
If you click Buy or the image you will get redirected to a page where you can buy the product using an affilated link.
An affilate link will not increase your price, but it will get me a small commission and helps me out :)
